Make extra money. Trade in your old (not gold) for cash!

We all know that times are tough and we’ve seen the commercials about trading in your gold, jewels and other pirate’s booty for cold hard cash, but we at Antiquities International have another idea. Why not sell your off your “oh, these will be worth money someday,” items.

Antiques, collectables, vintage memorabilia and autographs can bring in a lot of dough and Antiquities is the bakery. This not-so-subtle store is more like a museum of music, movies, historical and political and classic Americana memorabilia. Toby Stoffa ‘s Antiquities houses one of the largest collections of refurbished pinball, arcade, candy and cigarette machines, plus numerous restored cash registers, scales, Victrolas and other antiques. This mega-gallery also has movie props and vintage and collectors’ items including Star Wars figurines and Ron Lee Disney™ figurines.

Not only does Stoffa’s empire consist of some of the most rare and special autographs, but because she has been in the business for over 27 years, she has built incredible relationships in the antiques and memorabilia community. Therefore, she can tell you just by seeing emailed pictures of your Aunt Gertrude’s antique scale or your impressive collection of baseball cards how much they’re worth. And the best part is that Antiquities buys directly from collectors like you or will even sell your stuff for you on consignment.

Don’t have a stash in the attic? Now’s a great time to become a novice collector by perusing eBay and scouring yard sales for fantastic finds. You know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s pay dirt!
Check out Antiquities’ website and write us if you have anything you think we might be interested in, and who knows, maybe you’ll see something you just have to have.

Toby Stoffa – entrepreneur, philanthropist, friend to the late Michael Jackson - why you need to know this woman now

Las Vegas is a 24-hour town, and Toby Stoffa, is a 24-hour powerhouse. The president and CEO of Antiquities International has over 27 years of treasure hunting the most rare autographs, antiques and icon memorabilia.  3,400 square feet of endless signed record albums, guitars, framed celebrity and historical signatures and refurbished antiques houses Stoffa’s Las Vegas kingdom.

Stoffa's company was hand chosen by the owners of the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada for occupancy when America’s richest mall opened. Antiquities has been an integral part of the Forum Shops since and has extended its lease for another ten years. A second location, Antiquities of California is located on Pier 39 on the famous Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, Calif.
So why do you need to know Toby Stoffa? Her family, friends, associates and employees would say because of her unending commitment and support. For instance, not only does Stoffa provide 100 percent insurance coverage for her staff, she has also been an integral part in many employees’ personal and health recoveries. “It is that kind of compassion that has made me so loyal to Toby as a boss, and Antiquities. I can’t imagine working for anyone else,” one employee said. The loyalty speaks for itself, as most of her staff has been with her for at least 10 years.
Stoffa herself has overcome health issues and remains the true matriarch of a large family filled with her grandchildren. Stoffa is a proud sponsor and donator to charitable foundations all over the Las Vegas area. Charitable organizations include: March of Dimes, Make a Wish Foundation, Shade Tree Abuse Center, Children’s Leukemia Society, Children’s Cancer Society, and Muscular Dystrophy Association. She has been recognized by many organizations for her leadership in business, as well as her philanthropy, including being named one of the “Women Entrepreneurs of the Year,” by Nevada Woman magazine.

Ever the businesswoman, Stoffa puts in more hours at her operation (and then more at home), than most business owners do, really taking a hands-on approach and working alongside her employees. There is no closed-door policy at Antiquities between Stoffa and her staff, or customers for that matter. Clients appreciate the one-on-one service that Stoffa provides and she answers every email that comes her way, including any “what’s my 1970’s Star Wars figure worth?” inquires.
So, if you are not fortunate enough to be a part of Stoffa’s winning team or loving family, this entrepreneur is still the best in her business. No matter if you’re looking for rare Albert Einstein signed equations or an old Victrola like the one your grandma used to have, Stoffa can find it for you. Just remember, the name may be Toby, but this powerhouse is all businesswoman.

She has connections to finding the most incredible historical items such as a Civil War New York Seventh Regiments Officer's coat and tails from 1861. But, why stop there? Stoffa houses one of the largest collections of refurbished pinball, arcade, candy and cigarette machines, plus numerous restored cash registers, scales, Victrollas and other antiques.

The best thing about Antiquities is that the inventory is constantly changing, so if you cannot find your dream jewel in Stoffa’s impressive crown, there is a very good chance that she can track it down for you. The Psychology of Collecting – From Baby Teeth to Hollywood Memorabilia

Most of us have a collection of some sort, and while bills could qualify, I am talking about those assortments of things that have some meaning to us as humans.

There is value in creating a collection. From sentimental to financial, the reasons behind lining up fancy eggs in a glass, lighted cabinet are usually linked to some type of emotion.

From stamps to baby teeth, our reasons for collecting are as varied as the collections themselves, but have you ever wondered what the psychology is behind collecting?

An article in The National Psychologist (McKinley, 2007), explores why we collect saying that some of the more common reasons for collecting are;

Enjoyment – collecting can be tied in with a hobby, or a hobby itself, such as constructing model cars. The sense of accomplishment from building (be it a car or a collection) can provide contentment.
Investment – memorabilia enthusiasts, classic car collectors and antiques dealers see the value in collections for a future return on their investment. With many collections, the more time that goes by, the more valuable the item is.

Security – for some people, collecting is a kind of psychological need. By collecting they are able to fill an emotional need, or it may be compensation for a lack of control or stability. This is often associated with the more serious collecting condition of hoarding.

Preservation – collecting allows people to preserve the past by acquiring antiques and other pieces of history.  This category also applies to investment, as rare and classic items increase in worth over time.
Excitement– the treasure-seeker collectors love the thrill of the hunt and find value as much in the acquiring as in the owning.

Items that create a timeline such as stamps and coins mark a passage of time, and can span generations. Fads and trends make for collections that exemplify a specific point in time, and can be worth money as time goes by.

Antiques, items that have intrinsic history and therefore value, are among the top collectables. Humans strive to have a connection to the past. It only makes sense then, that we restore classic cars (note the word classic), pay top dollar for a Hollywood starlet’s signature and put pieces of history behind glass.

Whatever the reason, it seems that we all collect things that resonate with us on some emotional level, even if it is elation that will come from an eBay® auction.

Antiquities International leads the way in celebrity memorabilia specializing in movies, music, television, sports, and history. Along with our wonderful collection of autographed pieces, we also offer one-of-a-kind antiques and collectibles. All of our autographed memorabilia comes with a Lifetime Certificate of Authenticity. Each authentic autograph is displayed in a custom museum quality presentation, creating a unique piece of art.

Celebrate Stevie Nicks’ “In Your Dreams” New Album with the star’s signed album

The incomparable Stevie Nicks is releasing her first solo studio album in ten years, “In Your Dreams.” The New Yorker (Jones, 2011), said that the style icon with the famous raspy voice is capable of eclipsing Fleetwood Mac as a solo artist.
Her seventh album is only a reminder that Ms. Nicks is back, and here to stay as a heavyweight (in a whispery chiffon dress).

Still, there is no time like the present to own a piece of rock history with her 1985 classic “Rock a Little” signed album.

This beautifully presented album and photo of the American singer-songwriter includes Stevie Nicks' full autograph on the album cover. Nicks' third solo album, "Rock a Little" was internationally acclaimed and included such hits as "Talk to Me."

Add this piece of music history to your collection just in time for Nicks' latest solo album, "In Your Dreams."

This is a major document and to make it even more remarkable, on the back of the piece is William Hammond's actual membership certificate in the American Philosophical Society, dated and signed October 21, 1859. There is quite a bit of history that will be included with this piece. Also, framed on the left of the display, you will find the original shipping tube in which this document was sent to William Hammond by Abraham Lincoln!

For a little at-home fortune, you can have Zoltar the Fortune Teller.
Impress friends, and learn your own fortune! This classic arcade novelty is perfect entertainment for your home or business. The machine takes one-dollar bills in exchange for the animatronic gypsy's advice. Zoltar's crystal ball lights up, his hand, head and eyes move as he speaks various fortunes.
